Streaming music is an incredibly difficult business to be in, and most competitors simply can’t survive. Even if a company is able to attract millions of paying subscribers—which only a handful have, even by this point—that doesn’t mean it will be able to break even, and even the most successful names in the business, such as Spotify and Tidal, are facing financial woes, while both Pandora and SoundCloud may not be around much longer (at least in the same form we know them now).

The internet is littered with mentions of once-beloved streaming music platforms that bit the dust at one point or another, as well as some that were acquired. Let’s take a moment to remember them, as they all contributed something to the current musical landscape that is concerned with all things streaming.

SiriusXM announced today that GRAMMY Award-winning entertainment icon Dwight Yoakam will perform a special invitation-only show for SiriusXM on Wednesday, August 30 at The Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, NY. The intimate show will air live on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country and Prime Country channels at 9:00 pm ET.

The special performance for SiriusXM will feature Dwight Yoakam performing signature songs from throughout his 30-plus year career, as well as dipping into his vast repertoire of covers. Dwight Yoakam burst on the music scene with his chart-topping 1986 album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. and has received multiple GRAMMY, CMA and ACM awards. He has 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums, with five of those albums topping Billboard’s Country Albums chart and another 14 landing in the Top 10.

Additionally, Dwight Yoakam & The Bakersfield Beat, a channel curated by Dwight Yoakam, will take over SiriusXM’s Prime Country for a limited time and will feature music from Yoakam’s extensive career as well as his musical friends and heroes. Dwight Yoakam & The Bakersfield Beat will air Friday, September 1 through Monday, September 4 on channel 58.
